Walkin’ with chrissy
Mental Clarity & Emotional Release: Walking gives your brain a break from constant stimulation. As you move your body, your mind begins to untangle thoughts, process emotions, and release mental fog. It becomes easier to hear your inner voice and, for many, the gentle whisper of God’s presence. You might start your walk overwhelmed—and end it with clarity, peace, or even a breakthrough.
Mood Boost & Stress Relief: Walking, especially outdoors, increases feel-good chemicals like endorphins and serotonin. It lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone), helping you feel lighter emotionally. It can also reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety—no gym membership or medication required. Just ten minutes of movement can reset your nervous system.
Spiritual Reflection & Grounding: Walking allows space for prayer, worship, and connection with God. The rhythmic pace can be meditative—inviting you to reflect, cry, or simply breathe. You can use this time to journal in your heart, talk to God, or observe the beauty of creation. Many people say they hear God clearest when they walk alone.

Poetry
Poetry can help with anxiety and low self-esteem by providing a creative outlet for expressing difficult emotions and thoughts, offering a sense of relief and release. For anxiety, writing or reading poetry encourages mindfulness by focusing on words, rhythm, and expression, which can help calm a racing mind. For low self-esteem, crafting poems can foster self-discovery and self-acceptance, as it allows individuals to articulate their value and strengths. Additionally, sharing poetry or connecting with others through it can build confidence and a sense of belonging.

cooking
Cooking can be therapeutic physically by engaging the senses and promoting relaxation through the tactile experience of handling ingredients. The repetitive motions involved in chopping, stirring, or kneading can reduce stress and create a meditative state. Additionally, cooking encourages mindfulness as it focuses attention on the present moment, which can help relieve tension in the body. The process of preparing and enjoying a meal also stimulates the release of endorphins, improving mood and fostering a sense of accomplishment and well-being.

community service
Serving others and your community can be therapeutic by fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment, which can boost self-esteem and overall well-being. Helping others shifts the focus away from personal struggles, offering a sense of connection and meaning. Acts of service also activate the brain’s reward system, releasing feel-good chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine, which can reduce stress and improve mood. Additionally, contributing to the community can create a sense of belonging, combat loneliness, and strengthen social bonds, all of which are essential for emotional health.
